WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., September 9, 2020 – Rapattoni Corporation (Rapattoni) is pleased to announce that August 2020 marked its 50th anniversary serving the real estate industry. The company provides software for real estate associations and MLS organizations across the country with Rapattoni Magic-Cloud AMS, Rapattoni MLS, and the Rapattoni Integrated Website Service (IWS).
Founded by Andy and Niki Rapattoni in 1970, the company has built a history of providing innovative software designed exclusively for the real estate industry. Chief Executive Officer Niki Rapattoni reflects, “Andy’s first programs were marketed to real estate brokers and included Buying vs. Renting, Loan Amortization, Property Management, and Investment Analysis. He demoed on a teletype with a phone dial-up to a mainframe. He wrote the first membership system for a California association of realtors and added more modules until 1985, when he decided to produce software exclusively for real estate associations. We then continued to develop and refine our products through the advent of personal computers over the next two decades.”
In 1993, Andy Rapattoni campaigned for the industry to create a unique member number that stayed with real estate professionals no matter where they moved, an idea that evolved into the NRDS ID number which is now used by all NAR members. Rapattoni went on to become one of the pioneers in web-based MLS systems in 1999. The company also led the industry in delivering single sign-on and secure two-factor authentication for realtors, offering token-based Secure Logon in 2006, Single Sign-On in 2007, and keyless Adaptive Authentication in 2009.
In January 2016, Rapattoni released Cloud AMS as the next generation of its industry-leading AMS product, featuring a powerful Member Portal and flexible cloud hosting that eliminated the need for associations to maintain expensive servers and software licenses. Four years later, Rapattoni launched its first international Cloud AMS customer in January 2020 with the Saskatchewan REALTORS® Association encompassing Canada’s entire Saskatchewan Province.
Niki Rapattoni shared some additional memories on the company’s many changes through the years, “This has been a historic decade filled with so much we never anticipated. Andy’s passing in 2015 set a new course as I stepped into the CEO position and formed an executive team to lead the new visionaries and formalized our leadership team to make it all happen. Cloud AMS was introduced in 2016 and has been a huge success along with continued enhancements to our MLS and IWS products. Having started with one desk and two phones 50 years ago, this past year has been similar in many respects with new challenges of relocating our office to Westlake Village after 30 years in Simi Valley, we had barely moved when the pandemic hit, and we tackled five new MLS contracts plus the huge Real Estate California project and much more without missing a beat! With exciting new plans for all products, I can hear Andy saying, ‘We are a 50-year-old startup company with an amazing future!’”
Nicholas Hook, Chief Architect and Chief Information Officer, commented, “Through five decades of supporting the real estate industry’s ongoing evolution and expansion, Rapattoni continues to deliver powerful solutions that address the market's ever-changing needs. Earlier this year, Rapattoni released a series of MLS enhancements designed to help agents and brokers adapt to quarantines and other business disruptions caused by the COVID-19 mandates, including updates for entering Virtual Open Houses and Broker Tours in the MLS, plus options for excluding designated date ranges from ‘Days on Market’ calculations.” During this time, Cloud AMS also released helpful new enhancements for the Member Portal’s calendar, message alerts, and other tools geared to communication and working remotely.
In addition to their AMS and MLS products, Rapattoni’s Integrated Website Service (IWS) helps real estate associations quickly and easily launch consumer and member sites with configurable content and communication tools. The company’s IWS solutions include a variety of features such as news bulletins, calendar components, and online forms, while meeting the National Association of REALTORS® Core Standards for interactive websites.
President Ralph Hoover commented on his 24 years with the company, "Andy and Niki’s visionary leadership and guidance have shaped how so many of us have grown professionally over these 50 years. The corporate culture they created has led to our leadership and staff’s collaborative approach within our company as well as with our customers and industry partners. This has allowed Rapattoni to develop superior products and services while supporting the real estate industry’s ongoing evolution. Those lessons are carrying us into the future with our team of innovators and dedicated staff continuing to blaze the trail as we look forward to the many decades ahead of us."
Rapattoni MLS, the Cloud AMS Member Portal, and Rapattoni IWS all include Single Sign-On dashboards providing seamless integration with other Rapattoni products as well as a wide range of third-party services. The company maintains longstanding third-party integration partnerships with prominent real estate services such as Clareity Security, ShowingTime, RatePlug, Zillow, and MooveGuru, with new integrations from 2020 including Homesnap, eCommission, and NoteRouter.
Rapattoni Leadership Team
Rapattoni has also been at the forefront of the industry’s emerging data standards as the first MLS vendor to implement the Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO) Data Dictionary standard with Platinum certification, and the company continues working closely with RESO in developing its new Membership Data Dictionary. As the industry explores various options for consolidation and regionalization, Rapattoni has implemented multiple “Front End of Choice” solutions across the country while also assisting customers in deploying large regional MLS and AMS systems for new partnerships and mergers.
"The evolution of technology and services in the real estate industry has opened the door for new players to enter the market. This allows Rapattoni to take the lead in providing our customers with the tools they need to meet a new set of challenges through our powerful API technology stack," added Brian Tepfer, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. "We have positioned ourselves to take the next big leap in all of our products, utilizing industry standards and emerging technologies. With Niki’s appointed executive and leadership teams taking the helm, Rapattoni will continue setting the standard as we lead our customers into the future."
Rapattoni will celebrate the 50th anniversary with staff lunches, customer events, and other celebrations planned for after the COVID-19 mandates and restrictions are lifted.
